And I Wonder Where My Time Goes

We spent a full hour after dinner the other night playing with a lizard.

Poor guy -- seriously. Not only was he already missing the tip of his tail, thanks to a not-so-quick cat or some fast-moving car, but he'd just gotten laid. When we walked outside, there they were, piled on top of each other, complete with open mouths. Malia got excited, screaming, "Two!" and continued to watch while they finished their business (despite my attempt at distractions galore).

I'm assuming, clearly, that the female is who ran away from Malia's curiosity, but it surely could have been the opposite.

My daughter proceeded to chase this poor guy around one lone plant and around one section of fence for at least an hour. She asked me to catch him, but I politely explained that we would wait for Grandpa or Uncle Ryan to hold him for us (I have a THING about reptiles - frogs, lizards, snakes, oh my).

But for nearly a full hour, she kept this guy on his toes: shrieks, jibber-jabber and conversation galore. Then with all the pointing and grabbing -- this guy had to be exhausted.

He'd been tolerant, but I could sense his growing anxiety, so I explained that the lizard, too, had to get ready for bed and off we went.

A full hour. Really.

That is too cute and funny. I used to chase and catch lizzards too in our backyard when I was younger and now I cannot believe I ever did that...yuck. Good for Malia though being fascinated and taking it all in!
